Campaign 2016: It's Complicated

Southern Connecticut State University - 2016-10-31

Regardless of your political point of view, it's safe to say that the 2016 presidential campaign has been unlike any other in modern history - at least in many respects. Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump are vying for control of the White House. Third party candidates Gary Johnson (Libertarian) and Jill Stein (Green Party) also are competing to become the nation's chief executive. Evan McMullin, a conservative running as an independent, also is trying to get on the various state ballots. The forum will examine the major developments along the campaign trail, as well as the key issues and battleground states where the results are likely to be determined. The program also will look at the fight for control of Congress and how the results may re-shape the Supreme Court for many years to come. Caitlin Huey-Burns, a reporter covering the election for RealClearPolitics, will be the keynote speaker. The event also includes a panel discussion involving several SCSU faculty members, and an opportunity for the audience to engage the keynote speaker and panelists during a questions-and-answers period.
